Creative Effects
While out and about today, I had my camera with me as usual. I spotted something that I thought had a fir bit of potential to make some interesting photos from. (More)
Another Temporary Studio
When I walked in the other day, I saw something sitting on the kitchen bench that I thought would make a great subject to explore. I spotted on a plate the last of the Tomato's from the garden.
A plate full of rich, red tomatos seemed like something that I could have a go at shooting, so I just needed to set up somewhere to get the most out of it.
(More)Wide Angle
Well, I finally caved in and purchased the 11-22mm Wide angle Lens. I have been contemplating getting it for a little while and finally took the plunge.
I wanted it in order to do a shoot that I have coming up in about 5 weeks time and just knew that I should spend a bit of time getting to know it and how to use it.
(More)More Macro
A couple of days ago, I spotted some bright orange fungus growing on a bit of old wood in the Garden. I thought that it would make a great Macro subject.
Earlier this afternoon, between the rain showers I went and had a go.
(More)Shooting Wide
Over the last few weeks, whenever possible, I have been using the widest possible angle that I have. I normally make use of the great zoom lens' that I have and find myself a convenient location and use the zoom.
This adds a whole new dimension to how you go about taking the actual picture!
(More)Shooting the Night Sky
While I am not one who is really into stargazing, when a spectacular opportunity is present I will have a go!.
Well, tonight we had that spectacular opportunity in the form of the Comet McNaught.
(More)Holiday snapshots
In my post a few days ago about filters I mentioned that I had a fair few photos from my holiday that were not real good. A lot had very little detail due to the very bright conditions in NZ.
Today, I grabbed one of the photos that I liked and spent a little bit of time working on it.
(More)Fireworks
Most people get to see fireworks only a couple of times each year, and this also means that most people only get the opportunity to photograph them a couple of times a year!
Now, I have had a couple of goes at this now, and after getting nearly everything wrong the first time, the firworks on New Years eve were pretty easy!
(More)W o W
White in white on white on white was recently mentioned half in jest in a forum. In relation to a photo that a member posted, someone jokingly suggested that for their next subject, they might want to photograph a white cup on a white saucer on a white background full of milk!
(More)Macro
Macro photography is 1 special interest area that most people have a go at at some time. I briefly entered into this area several months ago and did a few pictures and never really explored it.
Well that will probably change with an addition to my kit - an extension tube.
(More)Forums
Sometimes, web forums have some real gems in the info from other users! Yes, I do browse a few photographic web forums and participate in some as well. Well, while browsing over @ DPReview tonight I came across one of those hints that looked pretty good. So, I checked it out for myself and sure enough -it was the gem I hoped it was!
(More)Temporary Studio
Typically when you think of a photographic studio, you think of models, backdrops and studio Lights. Well, recently, I wanted to take a series of pictures of some fairly small objects and as I don't have a studio I have to make do with what I do have.
(More)Panorama Updated
A couple of days ago, I posted about the Panorama I created. Well, after a few people on a forum took a look, they commented on how I might be able to improve it.
So, with their tips, I loaded up the cropped image into the Gimp and had another go to try an improve it.
(More)Adelaide Panorama
A comment was made to me a few months ago about my photoblog - It is called "Adelaide thru my lens" yet has hardly any pictures of Adelaide in it! On reflection the comment was correct. So today, I went out and rectified that!
A few days ago, I came across a little lookout that is about 8km Due east of the city and around 600 or so Metres high. I took a series of photos from there and created a pano of the cityscape.
