let the pictures tell a story
Last weekend we went into town to try and catch a bit of the international Police and firemans Games. The dragon boat racing was on the river and while enjoying the spectacle took a heap of photos.
We were blessed with several vantage points almost all around the course so over the course of a few races I took some photos of the races.
When I got home and started looking at them, I discovered that I had not only taken a lot, but from the few hours I was there I could grab a small selection of photos to tell a bit of a story.
Now, I took around 120 photos on the day and some of them I was very happy with, but even some of the not so technically great ones could be used to tell a story.
So, Lets just jump in and see the pictures and take that journey.

Spectators in the park, overlooking the river, waiting for the next race.

Lining up for the Start

Bang!, The Start

Stroke, Stroke Stroke,

The Crowd watching the Racing Boats

The finish line!
As you can tell, nearly all of these photos were taken from differnet places around where the action was taking place. I simply chose each of these pictures, put them together in this order to try and show what it was like on the day.
Individually, each of the photos show you just a small aspect of the event, but putting them all together shows you the crowd, the start, the race and the finish.
Just by presenting my photos in a particular order I have tried to gove you a bit of an insight to how I spent my afternoon, and if I had printed out all of my photos, I probably would have presented them in a similar way.
So, sometimes it is not about getting the best possible photo but about presenting your work in a particular way to the viewers. So, next time you go out, see if you can go thru your photos and find between 5 and 10 that tell the story of your days outing.
