Pano Printed
Well, the panorama I took a few days ago has been printed. I had it printed out at 82x18 cm in size or 32x7"
The Pro Lab where I get my large prints done print on standard paper sizes. In order to get this print, the paper size was 82cm x 50cm. It costs the same no matter how much you print on the paper, so I had 2 copies done on the 1 bit of paper and it only cost a fraction of getting 2 seperate prints done!
What gives me a great buzz is the comments I have been getting from the Lab where I am getting my larger prints done - The last 3 times I have picked up my prints they have always made a comment to me about how good the shots are! A pretty good compliment indeed from people who get to see an awful lot of photos - and an awful lot of good ones too!
Well, now the cheap part is done - yes, a $50 print is cheap when you consider the last pano I printed of a similar size cost me nearly $200 to mount and frame. I don't plan on spending this much (x2) on this picture!
Last time I had some large prints done (well 10x13"), I found a local Art and Craft supplier who stocks a heap of different colour mat boards, Mounting boards and other supplies. So, I invested in a mat cutter. Only problem is, the mat cutter I bought can only handle a 50cm cut - which is well short of what I need. I will have to get creative to cut the 2 mats for these prints.
So, tomorrow, I'll head off to the Art supply shop and buy a couple of 20x30" mats so I can properly display my pictures. Not sure what Colour Mat will look best - I'll take my photo with me so I can look! While I am there, I will also select a suitable mat for some other prints I need to mount.
I had 7 6x8" prints done of the Koala that wandered into our yard a couple of days ago and will get supplies and spend most of the day cutting mats and mounting boards.
Taking great photos is really only half of the task and if you take the time to correctly mount, mat (and frame them) they often take on a whole new look. I will probably put up one of the 2 pano prints at home, and take the other one to work. My closest window at work is about 30 metres away, so It should brighten up the place somewhat.
