Photography tips

A journey in Photography and sharing of how I go about taking various types of photos. Discussions include software and camera equipment and how to make the most of your equipment in a given situation.

W o W

White in white on white on white was recently mentioned half in jest in a forum. In relation to a photo that a member posted, someone jokingly suggested that for their next subject, they might want to photograph a white cup on a white saucer on a white background full of milk!

Macro

Macro photography is 1 special interest area that most people have a go at at some time. I briefly entered into this area several months ago and did a few pictures and never really explored it.

Well that will probably change with an addition to my kit - an extension tube.

Forums

Sometimes, web forums have some real gems in the info from other users! Yes, I do browse a few photographic web forums and participate in some as well. Well, while browsing over @ DPReview tonight I came across one of those hints that looked pretty good. So, I checked it out for myself and sure enough -it was the gem I hoped it was!

Temporary Studio

Typically when you think of a photographic studio, you think of models, backdrops and studio Lights. Well, recently, I wanted to take a series of pictures of some fairly small objects and as I don't have a studio I have to make do with what I do have.

Pano Printed

Well, the panorama I took a few days ago has been printed. I had it printed out at 82x18 cm in size or  32x7"

The Pro Lab where I get my large prints done print on standard paper sizes. In order to get this print, the paper size was 82cm x 50cm. It costs the same no matter how much you print on the paper, so I had 2 copies done on the 1 bit of paper and it only cost a fraction of getting 2 seperate prints done!

Wonderful Surprise

Well, tonight was pretty much like every other night when I got home from work. That was until my dogs started barking which is pretty unusual in itself. So, we went out the back to investigate what all the fuss was and we were amazed at what we saw! (More)

Adelaide Panorama

A comment was made to me a few months ago about my photoblog - It is called "Adelaide thru my lens" yet has hardly any pictures of Adelaide in it! On reflection the comment was correct. So today, I went out and rectified that!

A few days ago, I came across a little lookout that is about 8km Due east of the city and around 600 or so Metres high. I took a series of photos from there and created a pano of the cityscape.

Greeting Cards

One of the Great things you can do with your photos is to turn them into your own personalised greeting cards. One of the places where I get prints done had a very attractive price, so I thought why not put together my Own cards for christmas.

In one of the photography forums I visit there was a bit of discussion about taking photos of Christmas trees, so after reading the info I decided that I would have a go at it myself and try and get a suitable picture of my own christmas tree for use on my christmas cards.
