White in white on white on white was recently mentioned half in jest in a forum. In relation to a photo that a member posted, someone jokingly suggested that for their next subject, they might want to photograph a white cup on a white saucer on a white background full of milk!(More)
Macro photography is 1 special interest area that most people have a go at at some time. I briefly entered into this area several months ago and did a few pictures and never really explored it.
Well that will probably change with an addition to my kit - an extension tube.(More)
Sometimes, web forums have some real gems in the info from other users! Yes, I do browse a few photographic web forums and participate in some as well. Well, while browsing over @ DPReview tonight I came across one of those hints that looked pretty good. So, I checked it out for myself and sure enough -it was the gem I hoped it was!(More)
Typically when you think of a photographic studio, you think of models, backdrops and studio Lights. Well, recently, I wanted to take a series of pictures of some fairly small objects and as I don't have a studio I have to make do with what I do have.(More)
Well, the panorama I took a few days ago has been printed. I had it printed out at 82x18 cm in size or 32x7"
The Pro Lab where I get my large prints done print on standard paper sizes. In order to get this print, the paper size was 82cm x 50cm. It costs the same no matter how much you print on the paper, so I had 2 copies done on the 1 bit of paper and it only cost a fraction of getting 2 seperate prints done!(More)
Well, tonight was pretty much like every other night when I got home from work. That was until my dogs started barking which is pretty unusual in itself. So, we went out the back to investigate what all the fuss was and we were amazed at what we saw! (More)
A couple of days ago, I posted about the Panorama I created. Well, after a few people on a forum took a look, they commented on how I might be able to improve it.
So, with their tips, I loaded up the cropped image into the Gimp and had another go to try an improve it.(More)
A comment was made to me a few months ago about my photoblog - It is called "Adelaide thru my lens" yet has hardly any pictures of Adelaide in it! On reflection the comment was correct. So today, I went out and rectified that!
A few days ago, I came across a little lookout that is about 8km Due east of the city and around 600 or so Metres high. I took a series of photos from there and created a pano of the cityscape.(More)
One of the Great things you can do with your photos is to turn them into your own personalised greeting cards. One of the places where I get prints done had a very attractive price, so I thought why not put together my Own cards for christmas.
In one of the photography forums I visit there was a bit of discussion about taking photos of Christmas trees, so after reading the info I decided that I would have a go at it myself and try and get a suitable picture of my own christmas tree for use on my christmas cards.(More)
A few days ago I grabbed the camera and put the flash on it and went outside to try and get a picture of my cat. The cat was on the roof looking over the edge at me and it would have made a pretty good photo.
As usual, by the time I got back outside the cat was nowhere to be seen.(More)
Well, today I was looking to get a specific photo and spent a few minutes setting up the scene. I took around 15-20 pictures with some small variations in the composition, lighting etc. Well, then I loaded them onto the Computer and started looking to see if I got what I set out to.
Well, I can say that I was not really very happy with any of them and to get something useful I would have to pull a rabbit out of my hat.(More)
As I mentioned in my last post, I am going to present a few of the photos from the Street Parade. I selected 4 images out of the ones I took and I'll discuss them in detail. I will look at the composition of the pictures and why I liked or disliked them. So, lets cut the crap and get to the pictures. (More)
Yesterday, I grabbed a Camera in the hope of getting a few worthwhile shots of A local Street Parade. The Parade is Where Santa Arrives at the Local Shopping Mall, and several Local Community Groups participate in it.
I only Took 1 camera with me with the 14-54mm Lens on it. I soon realised I should have also had my other Camera with the Longer Lens as well. It just made it a little more difficult to get some shots - I had to wait for the parade to get close to me to get the shot.(More)
The Aperture of f-stop is a measure of "how big" the hole is that passes the light from the lens to the film (or digital Sensor). So, Adjusting the Aperture is really making the opening bigger or smaller in the Lens.
This is of course a very simplistic explanation, but That Is what we are going to explore and try and make sense of.(More)
I just thought I would go thru a few of the things to look at when buying a Point and Shoot or Compact Digital Camera. There is so many things to consider, and the salesman will be looking for his biggest commision, so knowing what you want can get you a camera that suits you, and what you want to do with it.
